Frankston City Council is collaborating with the State and Federal governments to construct a new basketball and gymnastics stadium at Bardia Avenue. This modern facility will boast 10 basketball courts and Frankston City’s first dedicated community gymnastics space, catering to the growing interest in these sports, particularly among young girls, women, and those with disabilities. The stadium will feature upgraded change rooms, a 1000 sqm gymnastics hall, a training pit, and improved entrances and foyer areas. Construction is set to begin in mid-2025, with completion expected by late 2026, following a feasibility study in 2021 and advocacy efforts in 2022.
Additionally, a new multi-level Kananook commuter car park adjacent to the stadium will offer over 300 car spaces for recreation patrons to utilize outside of peak commute times. This redevelopment aligns with Frankston City’s commitment to providing top-notch sporting facilities while fostering inclusivity and community engagement.
