Frankston City Council is excited to announce a new partnership with the Australian Government to develop a multi-level commuter car park near Kananook Railway Station and the Frankston Basketball Stadium. This $22 million project, slated for completion in 2024, will provide over 300 commuter car spaces, benefiting residents of Frankston City and the Mornington Peninsula.
Aside from easing commuter congestion, this project is expected to generate 111 jobs, with over $8.9 million in wages and salaries. It’s also projected to deliver $53.464 million in economic output, boosting the local economy by $17.295 million. Located conveniently near major roads, residential areas, and recreational facilities, the Kananook Commuter Car Park will feature safe, undercover parking across two levels, dedicated bicycle parking, upgraded intersections for improved safety and traffic flow, and pathway enhancements. This development aligns with Council’s commitment to sustainable and accessible transportation options while minimizing environmental impacts.
